Feux Follet: Call for Texts

a special volume celebrating Kréyolité (Creoleness)

Every year, many Creole communities around the world celebrate their Kréyolité (Creoleness) during October, which is recognized as International Creole Heritage Month. Louisiana, possessed of its own Creole community, also marks this occasion. In this volume of the revue Feux Follets, we wish to dive into literature and visual art featuring Kréyolité and all that goes with it: Kréyolitid (Creolitude), identity, culture, spirit and mind, environment, art, music, perspectives, experiences, connections and disconnections, food, traditions, folklore, etc. And if we happen to find ourselves in a land full of fifolé—mysterious floating lights, some say balls of blue fire, elusive denizens of Louisiana’s cypress swamps and marshes—even better.

The revue Feux Follets invites members of every Creole community around the world to submit texts in your own Creole language, alongside a French translation of your work (or you may send a French-only version). Texts in English will not be accepted. For those writing in Kouri-Vini (Louisiana Creole), if you do not know how to translate into French, we will be happy to create the translation if we choose to publish your work.

Parameters for submitting texts:

  1. We only accept Word documents (PDFs will not be accepted), and the font size of your text must be between 11 and 12 points.
